We have a green smoothie pretty much every day at my house.

But there are two things you should know about a Steve Smoothie:

1. My smoothies don't contain too much fruit.

That's because I don't want to spike my blood sugar and insulin levels, which can happen if you load too much fruit into your smoothie.

2. My green smoothies are very rarely green

That's because I like to include a rainbow of fruit and veggies in my smoothie to get a wide variety of phytonutrients. Phytonutrients are chemicals that naturally occur in plants and are associated with the different colour pigments in fruit, vegges and other plant foods like grains, legumes, nuts and seeds.

Anyhoo, check out my video where I walk you through what goes into a Steve Smoothie, and if you want more info check out this article my wife wrote over on her blog about how to make a healthy green smoothie.
